The Amazon Trees
There are more species of trees in the Amazon Rainforest than any where
else on the Earth. It is calculated that there are more trees in a
twenty five acre section of the Amazon than there are trees in the
whole United States. The trees in the Amazon are critical to the Amazon
Rainforest’s contribution of one third of the Earth’s fresh water as
well as a third of the Earth’s fresh air. Without the trees that grow
in the Amazon the rainforest would soon dry up and die out. This is why
the rainforest deforestation is so detrimental to the health of our
planet.
The industries that are cutting the trees down for the lumber,
oil, to build roads, to clear the land for cattle, commercial soybeans
and other profit motivated interests are missing the big picture of the
real value of the trees of the Amazon Rainforest. The trees are far far
more valuable in every way when they are alive and thriving.
Some of the most popular trees that we humans benefit from are numerous.
Cocoa Tree is perhaps one of the most well known trees. Chocolate is
made from cocoa and eaten all over the world. The cocoa tree grows in
many tropical locations. The Amazon Rainforest is probably the most
widely known location for cocoa.
There are a wide range of health benefits from cocoa. In the modern
world most cocoa is eaten as chocolate, it is important to know that dark chocolate is where the health benefits are available.
The Camu Camu Tree,
is another Amazonian tree that grows in Brazil and in the Peruvian
Amazon. This tree actually spend almost half the year partially
submerged in the Amazon flood waters. The fruit is known for all its
many health benefits including high vitamin C, antioxidants, for
cardiovascular health and many more benefits to human health. There are
many fruit tress in the Amazon Rainforest that produce fruit that have
great health benefits. Acai is well known, Bacaba, passion fruit,
mango, Strawberry Guava , bananas, coconuts, figs, and coffee are a few
of the more well known fruit trees.
The Sandbox tree, the Brazil Nut tree, the redwood tree and other trees
that grow very tall are also the big contributors to sustaining this
eco system that is responsible for so much of the worlds climate
stability.
The trees of the rainforest are very well adapted to thrive in the
layers where they exist. In some layers the trees have larger leaves to
catch more rain and sun, other trees at lower layers have smaller
leaves to avoid mold and mildew from growing.
Some of the trees grow leaves that can cover a small house and are easily large enough to shelter a human from the rain.
The trees of the rainforest are also where the treasure is stored, the
trees are like a storehouse for the nutrients that make the Amazon
Rainforest the most nutrient dense place on Earth. Truly this is where
the greatest profusion of life energy exists, more than all the rest of
the world combined.
The trees of the Amazon are so valuable alive and thriving that we all
must do all we can to save them from deforestation. We literally can
not survive on this planet with out the trees of the Amazon Rainforest.
